Hooah!

This is the first in (hopefully) a long run of Saturday posts in honor of our "boys and girls" in our Nation's fighting forces.
Without you guys in uniform, we wouldn't have what we have today. The men and women in our nation's military take a job that most wouldn't, or couldn't do.
I cannot put into words the ammount of appreciation that I have for those who vow to protect and defend our nation from her enemies at any cost.
For the safety of our country...I Thank you.
For the freedoms I enjoy...I thank you.
For the future of my children...I thank you.
The debt that folks like myself, millions of Iraqis, Afghanis, and Americans owe to you can never be paid.
Consider this a small, nearly pitiful attempt to start.
HOOAH!
Our prayers continue to go out to all of our military Men and Women, past and present. We love you guys.

Stop the ACLU Radio!

We've got a double treat for you today folks! Nedd Kareiva, founder of our parent site Stoptheaclu.org will be on the radio! But first we'll be having a live stream of Alan Sears, the president of the Alliance Defense Fund debating Barry Lynn of Americans United for the Seperation of Church and State.

Alan Sears will be on Barry Lynn's radio show Culture Shocks from 5 to 6pm Eastern Time, 2 to 3pm Pacific time. He will be discussing issues such as the the ACLU's policy to legalize child porn, their defense of sexual predators, and their positions on sick organizations like NAMBLA. If you haven't heard of Alan Sears take a look at The Alliance Defense Fund's website. They are one of the biggest forces out there fighting the evils of the ACLU. You can also check out his interview with Bill O'Reilly, or his interview with Frontpage magazine.

Yet another terror threat

Authorities have closed (temporarily) two tunnels in Baltimore based on info gathered in the past several days. My only problem with this is not the threat its self, nor the official's reaction to said threat. It is with the reaction that we will get if the threat is found to be less than credible (see New York subway threat).
Now, let's assume that the officials in Baltimore along with the FBI are successful at thwarting an actual attack. Nothing will be said, because we will never know if the threat was real or not. This being the whole point of the large presence, to discourage possible attacks.
We'll have to see how this one pans out. Till then...

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell delivered the following statement on the Senate floor today on the nomination of Harriet Miers to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court:

“Today I rise to commend President George W. Bush for his choice of Harriet Miers to be the nation’s next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Ms. Miers has an exemplary record of service to our country. She will bring to the Court a lifetime of experience in various levels of government, and at the highest levels of the legal profession. She is a woman of tremendous ability and very sound judgment.....

“Ms. Miers has a distinguished career as one of the foremost lawyers in this country, and she has served as a role model for women lawyers everywhere. After clerking with Judge Estes for two years, Harriet was the first women ever hired at the renowned Dallas law firm of Locke Purnell Rain Harrell in 1972.

“By 1978, she had made partner. And 24 years after first entering the firm’s doors, her colleagues elected her to be their first female president. She was the first woman to lead a Texas firm of that size and stature. That is a remarkable rise and a testament to her ability to lead, and inspire others.

“Further evidence of her administrative skill came when her firm merged with another firm to become the larger Locke Liddell & Sapp, LLP, and Ms. Miers became the co-managing partner, overseeing 400 lawyers.

“As an accomplished trial litigator, Ms. Miers has skillfully represented clients as varied as Microsoft, Walt Disney and SunGuard Data Systems. Her peers have recognized her many talents, as the National Law Journal has repeatedly honored her as one of the top lawyers in our country.

“Complex corporate litigation is a notoriously challenging practice area, and Ms. Miers’s ability to master a wide range of substantive legal issues has served her well time and time again, both in the government and in the private sector.

“In 1985, Ms. Miers became the first woman president of the Dallas Bar Association. And in 1992, she became the first woman president of the State Bar of Texas. She has played a large role in the American Bar Association, serving in various leadership positions in that organization, including as Chair of the Board of Editors of the prestigious ABA Bar Journal....

“Now that we have a nominee, it is this Senate’s responsibility to provide advice and consent in a fair, dignified, and responsible manner. In doing so, we should follow three principles. We should treat Ms. Miers respectfully. We should have a fair process. And we should complete our process with an up or down vote in a timely manner.”

While this seems to be a gleaming endorsment for Ms. Miers, I personally know Sen. McConnell to be a man who will take his own advice.

Teaching our Children to be Muslim.

ANN ARBOR, MI — On Wednesday, October 19, 2005, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California, will hear oral arguments in Eklund v. Byron Union School District. The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, represents several parents and children who challenged the Byron Union School District’s practice of teaching twelve-year-old students “to become Muslims.” For three weeks, impressionable twelve-year-old students were, among other things, placed into Islamic city groups, took Islamic names, wore identification tags that displayed their new Islamic name and the Star and Crescent Moon, which is the symbol of Muslims, were handed materials that instructed them to “Remember Allah always so that you may prosper,” completed the Islamic Five Pillars of Faith, including fasting, and memorized and recited the “Bismillah” or “In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate,” which students also wrote on banners that were hung on the classroom walls. A federal district court judge in San Francisco had previously determined that the school district had not violated the constitution. According to Richard Thompson, Chief Counsel of the Law Center, “There is a double-standard at play in this case. If the students had done similar activities in a class on Christianity, a constitutional violation would surely have been found. If the public school’s practice is upheld on appeal, all public schools should begin teaching classes on Christianity in the same manner as the Islam class was taught in this case.” Edward L. White III, trial counsel with the Law Center commented, “Rather than teach students about Islam, which is constitutional, the public school crossed the constitutional line and began indoctrinating students. The public school placed students into the position of being trainees in Islam, which is impermissible in a public school.

I'll take a different approach to this one. I blame the parents. Trust me, there's method to my well-known madness. Three weeks??? You've got to be kidding me. If that would have been my son's school they wouldn't have been three hours before I had the ACLJ to file a federal injunction to cease and decist immediately. I would've raised such a stink that O'Rielly, Malkin, Limbaugh, everyone would've been all over this. Now after these poor impressionable children have not only been exposed to, but encouraged in the practice of the religion of hate, we hear about it from the T. Moore Law Center themselves.

Kudos to the fine folks at the Thomas Moore Law Ctr. The ACLU is conspicuously absent from this one, though, folks. Let a public school even mention the name of Christ in a "holiday play", let them mention the affect the belief in Allmighty God has had in the shaping of this Nation, and the ACLU would be on this like stink on...the ACLU. Caught myself on that one.

This is probably one of the most rediculous things I've heard in a while that did not involve the ACLU. All I have to say is God help us all.

Let me interject now that I am not, by any means, a racist. Much less some neo-nazi blowhard.
Now on with the commentary.
Over the weekend a group of thugs (unapolagetically, I call them like I see them) responded absolutely ruthlessly to an otherwise unconsequencial rally by the National Socialist Movement (basically, skinheads).
The rally was against, don't laugh, "black crime". So, once the news release gets out, all of the "black criminals" get together to plan a counter riot which soon illustrates the very "lie" that these racist morons were perpetuating.
Retaliation was totally uncalled for. Don't jump my case for this, hear me out. Without any counter-protest, these hoodlums would have walked down the street, exposed themselves as the ignorant people they are, and it would've possibly been a by-line on WTOL news...at best. Now, they have all the publicity that they want. Recruiting of like-minded ignorant people will be at an all time high. All thanks to those who wanted to shut them up, and ended up attacking police cars and ambulances in retaliation to some idiotarian group who (unfortunately) have the same right to spew their hate-filled ignorance as you or I do to express our opinions on the net.
On a side note...In usual form, the AP and ABC news get it way wrong on this one...The headline? WHITE SUPREMACISTS RIOT IN OHIO. Spot-off, MSM, spot way off.

Hooah! Saturday *update*

Alrighty, folks, lets do this. This Saturday all who can create a post entitled HOOAH! in support of our great nation's military men and women. Remember, keep it positive. With the Iraqi constitutional referendum being an apparent rousing success there should be plenty to write about. Spread the word! With your help, I'm sure that we can make this thing a rousing success. Jayster at Stop the ACLU is supposed to spread the word to the members of the Stop the ACLU blogroll (thanks, Jay!) and I will try to spread the word a little myself, but it will take all of us to make this thing work.
